(7-21-2011; 13:14 PDT) SAN FRANCISCO [Javaholics] - Richmond District Police Captain Keith Sanford attends his first coffee hour with District 1 Supervisor Eric Mar. Sanford addressed two concerns from attendees about pedestrian safety (educate the public) and sidewalk dumping (call 311). But as usual the show belonged to Mar with about 25 attendees who discussed artificial turf at the Golden Gate Park soccer fields, Muni (or lack of) at Land’s End, loud music from skateboarders, the blighted Alexandria Theater, small businesses (or lack of) on Clement and Geary, and a planned mayoral debate at Star of the Sea Church, all preceded by a 10-minute special session with six socially-challenged members of various organizations vying to restore a city-owned wetland in Pacifica called Sharp Park (http://wildequity.org/sections/5). Mar’s 1-hour monthly meetings are progressively burgeoning and in fact Mar left the cafe (which he essentially occupied) accompanied by a resident who wanted to discuss an issue with him privately.
